Louisville barbershops gathering donations for Florida after devastating hurricanes

The barbershops are collecting water, toiletries, nonperishable food, medication and more.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Several organizations, businesses and individuals are stepping up to help those impacted by the Hurricane Helene and now Hurricane Milton.

Barbershops across Metro Louisville are gathering supplies to send to Florida.

Jo's Barber Shop on Watterson Trail in Jeffersontown and Shady Park Barber Shop are just two places collecting items.

Kayla Bagby with Jo's says she and her father are spearheading this drive. They're hoping to fill an entire trailer to take to Florida.

"We were going to contact the people that we know in the areas and just kind of have them guide us what places they know of that were impacted the worst, and who may need the supplies, who's currently doing cleanup," Bagby said.

The barbershops are collecting water, trash bags, toiletries, nonperishable food, batteries, flash lights first aid kits, medication, etc.

They are hoping to have all the donations by Monday, Oct. 14.
