LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Retired Louisville Metro Police officer and activist Ray Barker -- also known as "Sir Friendly C" -- was recently assaulted at the Dollar Tree store he manages. Now, he's launching the "Good Samaritan Project."
It's one of the community's latest efforts to lessen violent crime across Louisville.
"Sir Friendly C" was known for rapping anti-drug messages and entertaining Louisville youth for over 30 years. He said the idea for the Good Samaritan project came to him because of the incredible amount of support from the community he saw after he was assaulted.
The initiative calls on everyone in Louisville to make the decision to be a good Samaritan and look out for one another.
"If everybody shows each other the same love that they have shown me over the past week, I guarantee the culture of violence will go down in the city of Louisville," he said.
Organizers said it really comes down to neighbors helping and trusting neighbors and by knowing who your neighbor is , what they can do and how they can help you.
