LOUISVILLE, Ky. — The Louisville Zoo is offering guests discounted tickets for its Wild Winter Days if they participate in a food drive benefiting Dare to Care Food Bank.

Guest can bring at least one non-perishable food item may purchase the discounted tickets for $10.50 per adult and $7.50 per child or senior. Twenty-five cents of every admission ticket go toward the zoo's conservation efforts, officials added.

Officials said while guests are welcome to donate multiple canned good items, only one discount applies per ticket.

Wild Winter Days and the food drive run from Nov. 1, 2024 through Feb. 28, 2025.

Dare to Care Food Bank's most needed items include canned meats like tuna and chicken, and canned fruit, vegetable, beans, peanut butter, soup, rice, cereal, fruit juice and pasta. The zoo asks guest not to donate anything in a glass container.

Since the zoo has partnered with Dare to Care in 2009, officials said guests have helped collect more than 30,000 pounds of food. That's nearly the weight of five male rhinoceroses, the zoo said.
