Tree for Light Up Louisville arrives in downtown

The 45 foot Norway Spruce is about 40 years old.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Santa was hard at work Tuesday morning at the Forum at Brookside Senior Living Community, and cutting down the tree for Light Up Louisville.

The 45 foot Norway Spruce is about 40 years old.

After crews cut down the tree, Santa drove it from east Louisville to Jefferson Square Park where it's now set up and ready to be decorated.

It will be lit up in just a couple weeks.

Light Up Louisville is moving from the Friday after Thanksgiving to Saturday, Dec. 2 to give city employees time with family during Thanksgiving.

The event is from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. and features the Vendor Village, Lots of Lights Parade, and of course Santa Claus, to turn on the lights.
