Louisville police investigating after teenage girl dropped off at hospital with gunshot

The people who dropped her off at the hospital fled before police arrived, LMPD officials said.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Louisville police are investigating after a teenage girl was dropped off at a local hospital with a gunshot wound on Tuesday night.

At about 9:45 p.m., LMPD officers were dispatched to Mary's & Elizabeth Hospital after hospital employees reported a walk-in shooting victim, according to an LMPD news release.

Officers on scene found a 16-year-old girl who had been shot. She was taken to UofL Hospital where police officials say they expect her to survive.

The people who dropped the victim off at the hospital fled the scene prior to police arrival, authorities say.

Investigators believe the shooting happened in the St. Dennis neighborhood near Cane Run Road and Shanks Lane.
