16-year-old found shot in downtown Louisville parking lot

Officers found a teenage boy in a parking lot suffering from a gunshot wound Wednesday morning.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — A teenage boy is in the hospital after he was shot Wednesday morning in downtown Louisville.

At about 12:50 a.m., Louisville Metro police responded to a shooting in the area of 9th and West Jefferson streets, according to an LMPD news release.

Officers on scene found a teenage boy, believed to be 16 years old, outside in a parking lot suffering from a gunshot wound.

Officers rendered first aid until EMS could arrive. Once on scene, EMS transported the victim to UofL Hospital where officials say they expect him to survive.

LMPD's Non-Fatal Shooting Unit is handling the investigation. There are no known suspects.
