LMPD: Woman in custody after young boy found wandering the street in west Louisville

The boy was spotted by a JCPS driver who took them aboard their bus and called police until help arrived.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — A child found wandering in the street in west Louisville ended in a woman’s arrest who was wanted on multiple warrants.

Around 12:30 p.m. Tuesday, Metro Police said officers were called to South 15th and Magazine Streets on reports of a child seen wandering in the street.

The investigation revealed a JCPS bus driver was in the area aboard their bus when they spotted the child who is believed to be around five years old.  The driver put the child on the bus for its safety and called for help.

Officers arriving at the scene began canvassing the area and located a relative, identified as 24-year-old Amarrie Malone, shortly after.

According to arrest records, LMPD said they investigated Malone further and found she had outstanding warrants. She was taken into custody.

The child was not hurt and reunited with their mom.

Malone has been charged with endangering the welfare of a minor in this incident.

Police did not disclose details of her warrants.

Malone is currently booked at Metro Corrections and awaiting arraignment.
