Southern Indiana man arrested for alleged sexual assault on Hanover College campus

A 22-year-old Clarksville man was arrested Tuesday and charged with felony rape.

CLARK COUNTY, Ind. — A 22-year-old Clarksville man was arrested Tuesday after he was accused of assaulting a woman last fall at Hanover College.

In Sept. 2023, the Indiana State Police - Versailles Post began investigating an alleged sexual assault that occurred on campus. Investigators believe in the early morning hours of Sept. 17, a student at the college, Jackson Kruer, and a woman who also attended the college left an on-campus party together.

Both students walked to the woman's dorm where she said Kruer sexually assaulted her, according to an ISP news release. The victim immediately reported the assault to campus security who then contacted ISP detectives.

At the end of the investigation, the case was presented to the Jefferson County (Indiana) Prosecutor's Office for review. As a result, a warrant for rape (level 3 felony) was issued for Kruer.

Detectives with the Indiana State Police - Versailles and Sellersburg posts arrested Kruer on a felony rape charge and he was taken to Jefferson County (Indiana) Jail where he was incarcerated, waiting for his initial court appearance.

WHAS11 News reached out to Hanover College on Wednesday. University officials confirmed Kruer is still enrolled as a student at Hanover.
