Clarksville HS teacher accused of inappropriate communications with student

The Clarksville Police Department is investigating allegations that the teacher had inappropriate electronic communications with a student.

CLARKSVILLE, Ind. (WHAS11) – A Clarksville High School teacher is under suspension on April 16.

The Clarksville Police Department is investigating allegations that the teacher had inappropriate electronic communications with a student.

The school superintendent sent WHAS11 a statement saying the teacher was immediately removed from the classroom as soon as the district learned about the case.

The school system is also conducting its own investigation.

WHAS11 is working to gather more information on this case and will bring you those details as soon as we receive them.

The following is a statement from the Clarksville Community School Corporation Superintendent, Dr. Kim Knott:

"The Clarksville Police Dept. informed me this week of an investigation into allegations of inappropriate electronic communication between a teacher at Clarksville High School and a student. The teacher who was the subject of that investigation was immediately removed from the classroom and suspended. We have begun our own investigation into the matter, which remains ongoing. We take these situations very seriously and we hold our staff to high standards. We will not condone any inappropriate behavior. Questions regarding the police investigation should be directed to the Clarksville Police Dept."

The following is a letter from the school corporation to parents:

Dear Parents/Guardians:

The Clarksville Police Department informed me this week of an investigation into allegations of inappropriate electronic communication between a teacher at Clarksville High School and a student.

The teacher who is the subject of that investigation was immediately removed from the classroom and suspended pending further investigation. We are coordinating with the Clarksville Police Department regarding this matter. In addition, we have begun our own investigation, which remains ongoing.

I want to assure you that we are taking this situation very seriously and we hold our staff to high standards. We will not condone any inappropriate behavior.

The safety and well-being of your child is our top priority. While this is a personnel matter, I am communicating this news with you in an effort to be transparent and to let you know this matter has our full attention.
