LOUISVILLE, Ky. — A young woman has been identified after she was shot and killed in Old Louisville early Saturday.
The coroner says 19-year-old Kelsie Small died from a gunshot wound.
Police say Small and a 15-year-old were shot in the 100 block of Caldwell Street around 2:30 a.m.
Small and the other victim were taken to the hospital where she was pronounced dead a short time later. The 15-year-old suffered serious injuries and is expected to survive.
Small’s family says she was a 2018 graduate of Central High School and was a nursing student at Northern Kentucky University.
"A girl that has such ambition and drive, why is she not here with her on mothers day?" Christopher 2X, community activist and founder of GameChangers, said. "People in the community are outraged about what happened to that little girl."
