LMPD: 1 dead, 1 injured after crash on Gene Synder

LMPD’s Traffic Unit is handling the investigation.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — One man is dead and another is injured after a fatal collision on Gene Synder early Saturday morning. 

Louisville Metro Police Department said around 4:20 a.m., they responded to a car crash on Gene Synder near the Bardstown Road exit. 

Investigators said a man was traveling northbound on Gene Synder when another car was traveling at a high rate of speed in the same direction and crashed into the rear. 

The impact resulted in the initial car exiting the roadway and rolling over according to authorities. 

First responders were called to the scene and pronounced the man deceased.

Police said the sole driver of the second car stayed at the scene where officers determined he was impaired after attempting to talk to him. LMPD arrested him at the scene. 

EMS transported the driver to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries and charges are pending towards him. 

There were no other cars involved.
