NELSON COUNTY, Ky. — A Louisville man is facing numerous charges after a brief police chase in Coxs Creek late Thursday night.

The Nelson County Sheriff's Office said 48-year-old Deshawn Puryear was spotted by a Flock camera driving a stolen vehicle on Louisville Road. The vehicle had been reported stolen from St. Matthews, according to his arrest citation.

The citation said Puryear refused to stop when deputies tried to pull him over and fled down Louisville Road before turning on to Sullivan Lane and Meadowbrook Lane.

He then wrecked the vehicle after driving through someone's yard and attempted to flee on foot before being arrested, authorities said.

Police found a small baggie with pills inside the vehicle, which Puryear admitted were ecstasy pills. A marijuana pipe was also found.

"[Puryear] stated he smokes marijuana earlier this date, took two ecstasy pills, and did methamphetamine a couple of days prior," the citation said.

According to the sheriff's office, Puryear had three active bench warrants.

He's also been charged with criminal mischief, operating on a suspended license, reckless driving, receiving stolen property worth $10,000 or more, wanton endangerment, driving under the influence, fleeing or evading police, possession of drug paraphernalia, driving too fast for conditions, resisting arrest, disregarding a stop sign and possession of a controlled substance (hallucinogens).

Puryear's bond has been set at $20,000. His arraignment has been scheduled for Tuesday, Nov. 26.
