LOUISVILLE, Ky. — A woman was killed after a hit-and-run crash in the Russell neighborhood late Saturday night, according to the Louisville Metro Police Department.

When officers arrived to the scene at 16th Street and Jefferson Street, police said a 26-year-old was struck.

According to an LMPD news release, police believe the car that stuck the victim was a white sedan, possibly a Mazda, traveling at a high rate of speed that continued south on 16th.

While on the scene, officers performed emergency life-saving procedures on the victim until EMS arrived. Once EMS arrived they transported her to the hospital where she later died.

The LMPD Traffic Unit is investigating.

LMPD asks anyone with information to call 574-LMPD.
