Former Bloomfield Police chief indicted for reporting false incident, withholding information

Authorities said a grand jury found the former sheriff knowingly lied about another city employee.

BLOOMFIELD, Ky. — The former Bloomfield police chief is now facing criminal charges.

The Nelson County Sheriff’s Office said following an investigation, a Grand Jury has indicted Harry Steve Cambron on charges of tampering with physical evidence, falsely reporting an incident and official misconduct.

Court documents said Cambron made false allegations against another Bloomfield employee and tried to withhold information during an investigation between May 19 and June 20, 2023.

Authorities said the former sheriff knowingly lied about the employee trading sexual favors for overdue bills and stealing funds from the city for personal purchases.

Bloomfield Mayor Chris Dudgeon fired Cambron and other city leaders last May.

Cambron is scheduled to be arraigned on March 7, 2024.
