Former UofL cheerleader killed in I-64 crash

The I-64 East ramp getting on to the Gene Snyder has been shut down following a deadly crash.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) – A victim who was killed in an early Saturday morning crash was a former University of Louisville cheerleader.

The coroner identified the woman as 25-year-old Shanae Moorman who was a former Louisville cheerleader, according to University spokesman John Karman.

The university’s spirit teams coach Todd Sharp released a statement Saturday evening.

“Shanae was a light in the life of everyone that knew her. Her energy, enthusiasm and grit was contagious. A true fighter, she had battled Cystic Fibrosis her entire life. We are so grateful for the time we had Shanae here with us. She will forever be loved and missed!”

Moorman was killed when a Honda Accord she was traveling in somehow lost control, flipped and ejecting her from the vehicle on the I-64 East ramp at the Gene Snyder Freeway.

Police say speed and other factors have not been ruled out in the investigation.

Bradley Caraway, 34, faces charges connected to the accident including leaving the scene of an accident and non-insurance.

He was in the car with Moorman at the time of the accident. It’s unclear whether Moorman or Caraway was driving.
