LOUISVILLE, Ky. — A 7-year-old boy remains in critical condition after a hit-and-run in the Jacobs neighborhood.
Metro Police officers responded to the emergency in the 3600 block of Parthenia Avenue just before 3:30 p.m. Saturday.
In their preliminary investigation, police said a Chevrolet Cobalt driven by 19-year-old Katherine Hall was traveling south on Parthenia at a high rate of speed when she struck the 7-year-old as he was walking alongside the roadway.
Police confirmed a 17-year-old girl was attempting to help the boy and she was also struck. Hall allegedly left the scene without helping either victim.
Hall was spotted in the area by an off-duty Jefferson County Sheriff’s Deputy. Police also confirmed they were able to identify the vehicle Hall was driving with surveillance video from a nearby home where the incident happened.
The child and teen were transported to Norton Children's Hospital. Police describe the child's injuries and "life-threatening" while the teen is expected to be okay.
Metro Police said Hall had no valid driver’s license or proof of insurance on the vehicle.
She is charged with first and fourth degree assault, leaving the scene of an accident and driving without a license or insurance.
Hall is currently being held at Metro Corrections and is expected to be arraigned on Monday.
