LOUISVILLE, Ky. — A man is dead after he was struck by a car Thursday morning in Louisville. The man accused of running him over has been located and charged.
At about 3:30 a.m., Louisville Metro police responded to a hit-and-run involving a pedestrian in the 7800 block of Dixie Highway, according to an LMPD news release.
Officers on scene found a dead man in the roadway. The driver and vehicle had fled the scene.
Investigators found the driver, vehicle and passenger within hours of the crash. The driver, Kevonte Liwain Mitchell, has been charged with leaving the scene of an accident and failing to render aid, operating a vehicle on a suspended or revoked license, and failure of owner to maintain insurance.
The LMPD Traffic Unit is handling the investigation.
