Coroner ID's victim in fatal hit-and-run near Fairdale

LMPD is searching for the driver who hit a man with their car on National Turnpike and fled the scene Monday night.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — A man is dead after a fatal hit-and-run near Louisville's Fairdale neighborhood Monday night.

At about 11 p.m., Louisville Metro Police responded to a pedestrian struck by a car in the 8200 block of National Turnpike, according to an LMPD news release.

The coroner's office identified the victim as 46-year-old Andrew Garner.

Investigators believe Garner was crossing the roadway from west to east on foot when an unknown driver travelling northbound struck him. The driver didn't stop and fled the scene without rendering aid to Garner.

EMS was called to the scene and pronounced the man dead according to police. There is currently no vehicle description from the hit-and-run.
