DUBOIS COUNTY, Ind. — An Indiana woman is facing felony charges after police allegedly found drugs in her vehicle while she was picking up her children at school Monday afternoon.

Jasper Elementary School was releasing children to the school pickup line when a school staff member noticed the smell of marijuana, Indiana State Police (ISP) said.

The school staff notified Det. Sgt. Brock Werne, who happened to also be line picking up his children.

Werne found the vehicle and spoke to the driver, 41-year-old Sylvia Hadi.

While searching the vehicle, ISP said Werne found methamphetamine, marijuana, controlled substances and paraphernalia.

Authorities said the vehicle was in "deplorable condition" with "extreme filth," beer cans and some diapers with feces lying around.

Indiana Department of Child Services arrived and made arrangements for the five children that were inside the vehicle.

Hadi was arrested and transported to the Dubois County jail where she is currently being held on bond.

She was charged with possession of methamphetamine, neglect of a dependent, possession of a controlled substance, possession of marijuana and possession of paraphernalia. Possession of methamphetamine and neglect of a dependent are both a level 6 felony.
