JEFFERSONVILLE, Ind. — A Jeffersonville man was arrested after a hit-and-run involving a 14-year-old and their dog on Tuesday night.
The tragic incident happened in the 1100 block of Reeds Lane while the young teen was walking their dog around 6:15 p.m., according to the Jeffersonville Police Department.
Officers said the collision resulted in "serious bodily injury" to the teen, and "injuries" to the dog. It's unknown how severe the dog's injuries are.
Jeffersonville Police and New Chapel EMS were called to the scene. The injured teen was transported to Norton Children’s Hospital, where they are receiving medical care.
Police said the suspect driver was identified as Christopher Forsee, 38, shortly after the incident. Jeffersonville Police Department detectives and the Traffic Crash Investigation Team (TCIT) unit seized Forsee's vehicle that was used during the hit-and-run.
Forsee was arrested and charged with felony leaving the scene of an accident resulting in serious bodily injury, police said. This arrest charge may be changed as the investigation progresses further.
"The Jeffersonville Police Department extends its thoughts and prayers to the injured child and their family during this challenging time," Jefferson Police said.
The TCIT unit is conducting the investigation, and conducting tests to assess impairment as part of the investigation into the traffic accident.
