Judge announces 'no true bill' in Chris Jones sexual assault case

A judge announced "no true bill" in connection with a sexual assault case involving a former University of Louisville basketball player and two other men.
Chris Jones returns to court Monday afternoon to face charges of rape an sodomy.

ID=24636447LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) – It took months of gathering evidence--three days for a grand jury--and less than 20 seconds for the future of Chris Jones--Tyvon Walker and Jalen TIllford to be known, and with that the three men will not face rape and sodomy charges in connection with an alleged incident at Cardinal Towne apartments.

Jones was a projected second round pick in the NBA draft before his dismissal from the Louisville basketball team in February due to curfew violations--his lawyer tells us those hoops dreams aren't over.

"He really hopes this helps rehabilitate things for him and hopefully have a career in basketball somewhere," Scott Cox, Chris Jones' attorney said.

Jones is also a few short hours away, we're told he still plans on getting his college degree.

Dina Bartlett, who represents the accusers, had different emotions.

"As a lawyer I am angry at what happened to my clients as a citizen that championed Tom Wine's election to Commonwealth Attorney I'm disgusted," she said.

"He's maintained his innocence from day one when he voluntarily spoke to police and it's been hell," Brian Butler, Tyvon Walker's Attorney added.

Campus police say two women said they were raped by the three men back in February, after coming from an off campus party, but in Jalen Tillford's statement to the Grand Jury Wednesday, he says all sexual acts that took place in the Apartment was consensual.

"They are not criminals, they may be creeps but they are not criminals," Scott Drabenstadt, Jalen TIllford's attorney added.

The accuser's attorney Bartlett says this is a terrible step in the wrong direction.

"We have maintained that this case was special treatment because of Chris Jones and we continue to maintain that."

Jones' lawyer says his client is still in town but plans to move back to Memphis with his mom before heading to Florida to train for tryouts for professional basketball.
