LOUISVILLE, Ky. — The Louisville Metro Police Department (LMPD) arrested a juvenile male on Monday a few weeks after a shooting just west of the Pleasure Ridge Park neighborhood left one man dead and another injured.

Police will not release any more information about the person arrested, since they are under the age of 18. He was charged with murder, assault (first degree), tampering with physical evidence and possession of a handgun by a minor.

The juvenile is the second arrest made in connection to the Greenwood Boat Ramp shooting. James O. Reece, 21, was arrested just days after the shooting.

Reece is charged with murder, tampering with physical evidence and possession of a handgun by a convicted felon. He is currently being held at the Louisville Metro Department of Corrections on a $1 million bond.

CASE BACKGROUND

LMPD's First Division officers responded to a shooting at the Greenwood Boat Ramp around 3 a.m. on June 18.

Police found a man, later identified as Jayson Manookian, at the boat ramp suffering from a gunshot wound. Officers attempted to render aid and EMS later transported Manookian to the University of Louisville Hospital. He died shortly after arriving at the hospital, LMPD said.

Authorities said another man arrived at the hospital with a gunshot wound from the same shooting. The second man received medical treatment for his injuries and is expected to survive.

According to Reece's arrest citation, police identified him as a suspect from his vehicle using "law enforcement resources."

Reece's car was found on June 18 and he refused to stop when officers tried to pull him over. When the vehicle did come to a stop, the 21-year-old and another person fled the scene before being arrested by police.

During an interview with police, Reece said he got into a verbal argument with a group of people on the lower parking lot. Recce said him and three other people confronted the victim over verbal slurs the victim allegedly used.

Phone records revealed Reece and his friend were talking about the shooting afterward and Reece's friend told him that he had "hit the dude with ski on." The citation said Reece also threw the handgun out of a window, which police have been unable to recover.
