Kentucky State Police search for person of interest following fatal shooting in Franklin County

Police said 60-year-old Steven Girtley fled into a wooded area after a shooting Saturday night on Flat Creek Road.

KENTUCKY, USA — Kentucky State Police are searching for a person of interest who is connected to a fatal shooting in Franklin County.

Police were called to Flat Creek Road around 10 p.m. Saturday after reports of two men, identified as 36-year-old Justin Girtley and 60-year-old Steven Girtley, were involved in some type of altercation.

When troopers arrived, they found Justin with a gunshot wound. He was later pronounced dead.

Police said Steven had left the home, fleeing into a wooded area before troopers arrived.

KSP said their troopers are still searching the area for Steven.

He’s described as a white male, about 6-feet-tall, with blue eyes and a gray beard. Steven was last seen wearing camouflage clothing.
