MCDOWELL, Kentucky — Kentucky State Police found and arrested a Louisville man after an altercation over the weekend in eastern Kentucky led to the death of a man.
The KSP Pikeville Post received a call on Sunday regarding a death in the McDowell community of Floyd County, according to a KSP news release.
KSP troopers and investigators responded to a home on Kentucky Route 680 where they found a man. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Investigators believe a physical altercation between Michael Colley, 41, of Louisville, and Patrick Shepherd, 53, of McDowell, led to the death of Shepherd.
Shepherd’s body was sent to the State Medical Examiner’s Office for an autopsy. The cause of death has not yet been released.
Authorities say Colley fled the scene before first responders arrived on scene. Officers searched the area but did not find Colley.
Investigators later took Colley into custody Monday evening.
