Man in custody after short standoff with authorities, LMPD's Domestic Violence Unit investigating

Police said officers responded to the 100 block of Kingston Avenue on a Domestic Violence call.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — A man is now in custody after a short standoff on Thursday with the Louisville Metro Police's SWAT team at Hartwell Court in Louisville's Southside neighborhood.

Police said officers responded to the 100 block of Kingston Avenue on a Domestic Violence call. When they arrived, they found out a man had made his way to the 100 block of Hartwell Court with a small child from the original location.

Investigators said it was believed the man had a rifle.

SWAT responded to a call for support and after a short standoff, LMPD said the man surrendered to authorities.

Officers were able to return the child unharmed to the parent in the Kingston area police said.

No one was harmed in this incident, and all parties are accounted for according to investigators.

LMPD's Domestic Violence Unit is investigating.
