LOUISVILLE, Ky. — A vehicle collision on Saturday afternoon left two people dead in Marion County.
Kentucky State Police (KSP) responded to a two-vehicle injury collision around 6:20 p.m. on Saturday at US 68 near the intersection of Jessietown Road.
Preliminary investigation revealed that 20-year-old Erik Garcia of Lebanon was traveling west on US 68 when he crossed the centerline of the roadway and entered the eastbound lane before he dropped off the roadway. Garcia then steered back into the eastbound lane and crashed head-on with another vehicle.
Authorities said the driver of the second vehicle, 70-year-old Roy Wright of Lebanon, was traveling east on US 68. The passenger in Wright's car, 72-year-old Debroah Wright of Lebanon was pronounced dead at the scene by Marion County Coroner.
According to the news release, Roy was transported to the hospital where he passed away due to his injuries.
Police cannot confirm the relations between Roy and Deborah at the time.
Garcia was charged with vehicular homicide, assault, DUI, wanton endangerment and other traffic offenses.
Garica's arraignment is Monday, Nov. 4 and his bond is set for $2M.
