VINE GROVE, Ky. — A Vine Grove man has been charged with murder following a deadly shooting overnight Sunday, according to Kentucky State Police (KSP).

State troopers with KSP Post 4 responded to a home on Mountain Lane in Meade County around 10 p.m. on Jan. 14 after receiving a request for assistance from Meade County authorities.
According to KSP, 51-year-old David Gex called 911 saying he had shot 59-year-old Richard Hernandez.
Gex told dispatchers the two men had gotten into a verbal altercation prior to the shooting.
When police arrived on scene, Gex was taken into custody without incident. Hernandez died at the scene, according to the Meade County Coroner's Office.
Gex is currently being held at the Meade County Detention Center. He has been charged with murder.
KSP said their investigation remains on-going.
