LMPD: 44-year-old man dies following shooting in California neighborhood

Police are also investigating two other violent incidents that left a 14-year-old injured in the Russell neighborhood on Sunday.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — A 44-year-old man has died following a shooting in the California neighborhood.

According to LMPD, the victim was involved in some type of dispute in the 1000 block of South 26th Street around 4:30 p.m. Sunday. The man was shot multiple times.

LMPD said the victim was taken to the hospital, but they died while in surgery.

Investigators said all parties involved in that incident have been accounted for and the investigation is ongoing, and they are still sorting out details as to what led up to the incident.

The victim's name has not been released. 

LMPD is also investigating two other violent incidents.

A 14-year-old has been hospitalized after he was shot in the 1200 block of Place Argente near the City View Park apartments in the Russell neighborhood just before 8 p.m. Sunday.

The teen suffered a gunshot wound to the leg and officers applied a torniquet to his leg.

Earlier Sunday, police said a man was shot in the 1300 block of Catalpa Street in the Parkland neighborhood around 3:10 p.m.

Both victims were taken to area hospitals for treatment.

LMPD’s Non-Fatal Shooting Unit will handle the investigations of those incidents.
