LMPD: 15-year-old injured following overnight shooting in Old Louisville

According to LMPD, a man told them he shot at a couple of juveniles trying to break into their car near S. First Street and West Burnett Avenue early Saturday.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — A 15-year-old has been injured following an overnight shooting in Old Louisville.

Metro Police said Fourth Division officers responded to South First Street and West Burnett Avenue around 3:35 a.m. Saturday.

Officers said a man at the scene told them he shot at a couple of juveniles that were trying to break into their car.

A short time later and about a mile away, police said a 15-year-old juvenile was found with a gunshot wound to the leg.

They were taken to an area hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

LMPD said investigators are still canvassing the area of the shooting scene and going through surveillance footage related to the incident.

The Non-Fatal Shooting Unit is handling the investigation.
