LOUISVILLE, Ky. — A person is in custody after allegedly driving a stolen semi-trailer Friday afternoon.
Investigators said Louisville Metro Police (LMPD) officers spotted the stolen semi near the intersection of Petersburg Road and Ellington Avenue in the Newburg area around 2:45 p.m.
Officers tried to pull the truck over, but investigators said the driver refused to listen.
As a safety precaution, police said officers did not pursue the semi. Instead, LMPD's air unit followed the vehicle while additional officers trailed behind the semi.
Around 4:30 p.m. the driver eventually stopped in a parking lot at Shelbyville Road and Juneau Drive behind a couple of the businesses, hitting at least two parked cars LMPD said.
The SWAT team responded to the scene "to disable the truck if the operator became a danger to others" according to authorities.
After a short while of refusing to exit the semi, police said the driver was taken into custody without anyone being injured.
