LMPD: Convenience store manager admits to staging robbery

According to court documents, 32-year-old Jonathan Bush called 911 Jan. 24 to report a robbery and told dispatchers he was was robbed at knife point.
Jonathan W. Bush is charged with theft by unlawful taking and false reporting.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) -- A manager at a Louisville convenience store is in trouble with the law after police said he lied about a robbery.

According to court documents, 32-year-old Jonathan Bush called 911 Jan. 24 to report a robbery and told dispatchers he was was robbed at knife point.

Police said Bush, the manager of the Circle K on Fegenbush Lane, told investigators the suspect pulled out a knife and forced him to hand over more than $5,000 of the store's money which Bush was supposed to deposit in the bank.

Monday, police said one of Circle K's division managers performed an internal investigation. During his interview Bush admitted to staging the robbery to cover his store thefts and to support his "habit."

Bush is charged with theft by unlawful taking and false reporting.
