LMPD: JCPS administrators find kids living outside, woman arrested on child endangerment charges

According to Louisville Metro Police, two JCPS administrators went to a residence on Home Park Drive where they found two children living outside.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — A woman is in jail Thursday after allegedly leaving children to live in what police called inhumane conditions.

According to Louisville Metro Police, two Jefferson County Public School administrators went to a residence on Home Park Drive where they found two children, ages 10 and 11, living outside.

That's just off Cane Run Road.

The administrators told police they were able to talk to the children, and said they both appeared dirty, hungry and injured.

A third teenager, the children's' older sibling, got back from school and all three of them were taken to the hospital.

Investigators said the teenager, 16, had arrived at school "in an apparent state of malnourishment, dehydration, and neglect" which alerted the administrators.

The teenager told LMPD that their mother had not been at the home and the living conditions inside were filthy. Snider told police the kids had been living outside for several nights because of the conditions of the home.

Court documents said 34-year-old Betty Snider gave a mirandized statement and admitted to knowing about the children's living conditions.

Snider is charged with wanton endangerment, abandonment of a minor and endangering the welfare of a minor.
