Man arrested, charged with murder after man dies from shooting in Pleasure Ridge Park

Police were responding to a crash when they found the man suffering from a gunshot wound. He died in the hospital a short time later.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — The Louisville Metro Police Department (LMPD) is investigating after a fatal shooting in the Pleasure Ridge Park neighborhood Friday afternoon.

Authorities said LMPD's Third Division responded to a report of a crash in the 5800 block of Greenwood Road around 12:30 p.m. When officers arrived, they found a man suffering from a gunshot wound inside a vehicle. 

Police arrested and charged Patrick Anderson,31, with murder, tampering with evidence and possessing a gun by a convicted felon.

The victim was transported to the University of Louisville Hospital where he died a short time later.

According to an arrest citation, a surveillance video showed Anderson entering the rear passenger side of the vehicle at Circle K before the shooting. After the vehicle wreck on Greenwood Rd, witnesses provided detectives with descriptions of one man fleeing the scene.

Investigators located multiple shell castings inside the vehicle.

The victim's identity has not been released by the coroner's office yet.
