LMPD searching for hit-and-run driver after fatal collision on Fern Valley Road

Police are searching for the driver that struck a 42-year-old man with their vehicle and fled the scene Thursday morning.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — A man is dead after a fatal hit-and-run Thursday morning in south Louisville.

At about 4:15 a.m., Louisville Metro police responded to a vehicle collision involving a pedestrian on Fern Valley Road at Old Shepherdsville Road, according to an LMPD news release.

Investigators believe a man, later identified as Calvin Ray Bloyd, 42, was outside of his vehicle on Fern Valley Road when he was struck by an unknown vehicle. The driver of the unknown vehicle fled the scene driving eastbound on Fern Valley Road.

A second vehicle, a pickup truck, also struck Bloyd and remained on scene. He was transported to the hospital where he was later pronounced dead.

The LMPD Traffic Unit is investigating.
