LMPD: Overnight shooting in Portland leaves 4 injured

Police said they investigated two scenes early Saturday which were about a mile apart. They believe both shooting scenes are "directly related."

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Four people are recovering at the hospital after an overnight shooting in the Portland neighborhood.

Around 2:30 a.m. Saturday, First Division officers found two men in the 600 block of North 29th Street suffering from gunshot wounds.

Just under a mile away, police also responded to the Boone’s Gas Station on North 22nd street for another shooting.

Two men were found inside a van at the scene suffering from “various gunshot wounds.”

In their investigation, LMPD’s Non-Fatal Shooting Unit said both shootings were related. Investigators believe the original scene was on North 29th Street and are trying to figure out what exactly happened.

All the victims were taken to the hospital.

LMPD said everyone is expected to survive while two of the victims had to undergo surgery.

The investigation is ongoing.
