Man dies after being found shot multiple times in wrecked car in California neighborhood

Police said the car hit a tree and officers found the driver suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — One person is dead after he was found shot in a wrecked car in the California neighborhood Friday afternoon.

The Louisville Metro Police Department's (LMPD) Second Division responded to the crash near the intersection of West Kentucky Street and Salem Avenue around 2:45 p.m. 

Jefferson County Coroner's Office identified Robert W. Sarver, Jr., 17, as the victim. 

Police said the car hit a tree and officers found the driver suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.

Louisville Fire and EMS were able to get Sarver out of the car and to the University of Louisville Hospital for treatment. The man died from his injuries at the hospital, however.

LMPD's Homicide Unit is investigating. There are no known suspects at  this time.
