LOUISVILLE, Ky. — The Louisville Metro Police Department (LMPD) has released a new sketch of an alleged suspect in a violent home invasion and rape in Hurstbourne Acres that happened two weeks ago.
An elderly woman was raped after answering a knock at her door in the middle of the afternoon on April 17. Police said the man then stole some of the woman's belongings before leaving.
The suspect is described as a 5'10" Black man with a slender build with short black hair.
On Wednesday, LMPD's Sex Crimes Unit (OSPI) released a sketch of the alleged suspect.
Authorities said the suspect was last seen wearing a black shirt and either jeans or blue pants and is believed to have fled on foot in the neighborhood after the violent attack.
"This type of incident is very troubling and very uncommon," police said on April 17. "We want the community in that area to be cautious, take the extra time to pay attention to your surroundings, and call 911 immediately if you feel you are in danger."
LMPD continues to urge neighbors in the Hurstbourne Acres area to check any video surveillance they may have and send it to police. To submit a report, contact police at 502-574-LMPD (5673).
