Victim ID'd in fatal Russell neighborhood shooting

Police said officers first responded to the scene on Esquire Alley around 5:20 p.m. That's near 10th Street and West Broadway.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Louisville Metro Police is investigating a shooting that happened in the Russell neighborhood Wednesday afternoon.

Police said they first responded to the scene on Esquire Alley around 5:20 p.m. That's near 10th Street and West Broadway.

When officers arrived, investigators said they found a man who had been shot several times.

First responders transported him to the hospital, where police said he died from his injuries.

The Jefferson County Coroner's office identified the victim as 41-year-old Shantell N. Potter Sr.

Police said there are no known suspects at this time.
