LMPD: Suspect stabbed girlfriend before carjacking, kidnapping 2 men

Police said after leaving the scene of the stabbing, Denham carjacked two men and held them hostage for hours before he police caught up with him at a BP station on Shelbyville Road.

Brandon Wayne Denham is charged with four counts of theft by unlawful taking, two counts of kidnapping, two counts of assault, one count of robbery, one count of burglary, one count of wanton endangerment and one count of fleeing or evading police.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) -- WHAS11 has learned new information about the man police said is responsible for several carjackings and kidnapping two people.

According to court records, the chaotic day Brandon W. Denham stole cars and abducted two men all started with a fighter between him and his girlfriend.

The report states Denham and his girlfriend were in the parking lot of the Kroger on Shelbyville Road when they got into an argument. The argument escalated and police said Denham physically assaulted and stabbed his girlfriend in the arm.

A nearby officer heard her scream and approached Denham and identified himself as an officer. Police said Denham pulled out a knife and said 'you're going to have to take me.'

The officer tried to retrieve his weapon from his ankle but Denham sped away.

The hostages were able to escape unharmed.

Denham is facing multiple charges: Four counts of theft by unlawful taking, two counts of kidnapping, two counts of assault, one count of robbery, one count of burglary, one count of wanton endangerment and one count of fleeing or evading police.
