TARC passenger accused of punching driver in the face, police search for suspect

The assault happened last month in the NuLu area, according to LMPD.
The reductions go into effect on June 30.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Authorities continue to search for a TARC passenger who is accused of assaulting a driver late last month.

The Louisville Metro Police Department's (LMPD) First Division responded to the assault on the TARC bus around 9:30 a.m. on Aug. 27.

When police arrived, the driver said the passenger had already fled the scene. Officers noted in the police report that the driver had been punched in the face, "causing swelling and pain to the victim's face, head and neck."

The suspect will be charged with fourth-degree assault when arrested, according to police.

LMPD's First Division continues to investigate the incident.

"It is unfortunate that an individual would sucker punch a person for trying to do their job while they are sitting down in a helpless position. We hope someone will step up and name this person so that LMPD can prosecute them," TARC said in a statement to WHAS11 News.

Anyone with any information is asked to contact LMPD using the anonymous crime tip line at 502-574-LMPD (5673). Reports can also be made anonymously online by clicking here.
