LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Several schools in Louisville were impacted Wednesday morning by a nationwide swatting event.
Ballard High School, Atherton High School, Westport Middle School and Wilder Elementary School were all affected by the fake threats made.
At about 9:45 a.m., district officials released a statement saying all schools affected by the swatting incident have "returned to normal operations."
Jefferson County Public Schools officials are calling this incident a "nationwide swatting situation."
"Swatting" is when a prank call is made to emergency services in an attempt to bring about the dispatch of a large number of armed police officers to a particular address.
According to a JCPS spokesperson, all kids and staff are safe.
