Louisville man charged in sexual assault near University of Kentucky's campus

Police said the 21-year-old is accused of sexually assaulting the victim in the overnight hours of Nov. 10.

KENTUCKY, USA — A Louisville man has been arrested and facing charges related to a sexual assault near the University of Kentucky campus.

Saif Al-Khafaji, 21, is facing sexual abuse and indecent exposure charges.

UK Police said a victim was allegedly assaulted by Al-Khafaji’s as they walked near Rose St. and Euclid Avenue in the overnight hours of Nov. 10.

This led to a campus-wide crime bulletin being issued on Nov. 15.

According to their investigation, police were able to connect Al-Khafaji to a separate report of indecent exposure based on the description given by the victim.

Al-Khafaji was quickly identified by the campus’ security system.

Police said an arrest warrant was issued on Thursday and he was arrested Saturday evening by the Louisville Airport Police.

It’s unclear when Al-Khafaji will be arraigned in Fayette County.
