LOUISVILLE, Ky. — A man was sentenced on Wednesday to 13 years in prison with a 5-year term of supervised release for distributing fentanyl.
Court documents show Dalton Hayes, 21, was sentenced for not only distributing the fentanyl, but also for the distribution of fentanyl resulting in death, distribution of fentanyl resulting in serious bodily injury, and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
According to court documents, Hayes had previously been convicted of trafficking in a controlled substance in the first degree, schedule II oxycodone less than 10 dosage units, receiving a stolen firearm, and receiving stolen property over $500 but less than $10,000 in 2021.
He does not have the opportunity for parole, as there is no parole in the federal system officials said.
Both the DEA Louisville Field Division and Louisville Metro Police were investigating.
