Louisville police investigating after man found shot in Russell neighborhood

Detectives are trying to determine what led up to the shooting and what a possible motive could be.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — A man is recovering in the hospital after being shot in the Russell neighborhood Thursday morning.

Louisville Metro Police (LMPD) said First Division officers found the man suffering from a gunshot wound around 9:30 a.m. in the 600 block of South 11th Street.

Police rendered first aid to the victim until EMS could arrive and transport him to the University of Louisville Hospital for treatment. An LMPD spokesperson said the man is expected to survive his injuries.

Detectives are still working to determine what led up to the shooting and what a possible motive could be.

There are no known suspects, however LMPD's Non-Fatal Shooting Unit is investigating.
