Man accused of taking boy from Louisville Kroger not indicted on kidnapping

Fabao Chen was indicted by a grand jury on three counts of wanton endangerment and unlawful imprisonment.

LOUISVILLE (WHAS11) – A man who was accused of kidnapping a child and wanton endangerment in June was not indicted on kidnapping.

Fabao Chen was indicted by a grand jury on three counts of wanton endangerment and unlawful imprisonment.

In June, Fabao Chen said a child was throwing a bottle in his restaurant, the Double Dragon. He said he tried to get him to stop him but the child went to a nearby Kroger. That is when police said Chen pulled out what looked like a gun and took the boy from the Kroger to Double Dragon.

Surveillance video showed Chen walking with the boy. In the video, you can see Chen grab the boy’s arm and a man follow Chen. When a crowd showed up a few minutes later, police said Chen pointed what was thought was a gun at the crowd.

It ended up being a BB gun that he was holding.
