Woman arrested after man found dead inside New Albany home

Police were executing a welfare check at a home Tuesday night when they found a 68-year-old man dead on the floor.

NEW ALBANY, Ind. — Police are investigating after a man was found dead inside a southern Indiana home Tuesday night.

At about 7:30 p.m., officers responded to a call of a woman in distress in the parking lot of a Meyer, according to Indiana State Police Sgt. Carey Huls.

Investigators determined a welfare check was necessary at a home in the 800 block of East 11th Street in New Albany.

Inside the home, New Albany officers found 68-year-old Gary D. Reid dead on the floor with an "apparent head injury, according to an ISP news release.

The woman, identified as 26-year-old Tirzah Catherine Linson of Clarksivlle, from the original distress call, who was transported to the hospital, was arrested and taken to the Floyd County Jail. She was charged with murder.

As of Wednesday morning, police haven't said how the woman is related to the victim. Both New Albany Police Department and Indiana State Police are investigating the case.
