LMPD: Man dies after shooting in Russell neighborhood

Officers found a man suffering from a gunshot wound Friday morning. Shortly after, he was pronounced dead at the hospital.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — A man is dead after he was shot Friday morning in Louisville's Russell neighborhood.

At about 2:30 a.m., Louisville Metro police responded to a report of a "person down" at 28th and West Market streets, according to an LMPD news release.

Officers on scene found a man suffering from a gunshot would. He was taken to the hospital where he was pronounced dead shortly after his arrival.

LMPD's Homicide Unit is leading this investigation. There are currently no known suspects and police are asking for the public's help.
