LMPD: Man found shot in downtown Louisville

A shooting victim approached a marked LMPD cruiser Thursday, asking for help.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Louisville Metro Police Department is investigating after a man suffering from multiple gunshot wounds walked up to a police cruiser Thursday night, asking for help.

Just before 11:30 p.m., a gunshot victim approached a marked LMPD 1st Division Police car in the 500 block of South 1st Street, asking for medical assistance, according to an LMPD news release.

Investigators say the man had been shot multiple times. Officers performed first aid until EMS arrived on scene and transported the man to UofL Hospital for treatment, where officials believe he will survive.

LMPD investigators believe the shooting happened at approximately 11:23 p.m. near the corner of 27th Street and Muhammad Ali Boulevard.

LMPD's Non-Fatal Shooting Unit is leading the investigation. There are currently no known suspects.
