73-year-old man indicted on murder charge after fatal stabbing at Old Louisville retirement home

A grand jury returned an indictment against Kenneth Muse. He is accused of stabbing a woman to death inside her apartment in May.

A man was indicted Wednesday on one count of murder in the fatal stabbing of a woman at a Louisville retirement home last May.

The Jefferson County Grand Jury returned an indictment against Kenneth Muse, 73, on Wednesday. He is charged with one count of murder, and if convicted, could face 20 to 50 years, or life in prison.

Muse is accused of fatally stabbing Brenda Kemp, 73, inside her apartment at Friendship House. His arraignment is scheduled for Monday at 8:30 a.m.

CASE BACKGROUND

Louisville Metro Police arrested Kenneth Muse for the fatal stabbing that happened on May 15 at a retirement home in Old Louisville.

LMPD said officers responded to the apartment complex on 4th Street around 5 a.m. When they arrived, officers found Kemp suffering from several stab wounds. She died at the scene.

According to court documents, Muse was staying with Kemp.

Investigators said during their initial investigation, they learned Muse had called 911, and during the call he said he had stabbed Kemp, and to send police.

Documents say surveillance cameras showed him leaving the area around the time he made the 911 call.
