LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) – In July, investigators say 46-year-old John Mann confronted his ex-girlfriend and her friend Stephen Singleton.
The pair left the home but police say Mann waited and unscrewed the porch light bulb so that it was dark when the couple returned.
Police say that's when Mann stabbed twice in the chest.
Singleton's lung was punctured, a heart valve was damaged and had his spleen removed.
He remains in the hospital in intensive care.
Mann is charged with assault in the first degree and violating an emergency protective order.
He's currently being held on $50,000 cash bond and is expected to appear in court on Oct. 20.
